Bertha Phillips Is A Truck Driver That Bought A Lotto Ticket By Fluke

Bertha Phillips - Truck DriverBertha Phillips was driving her truck, en route to deliver a load Kentucky, when she stopped at a Pilot Truck Stop to get gas. Bertha has a company fuel card and the manager of the truck stop advised her that they couldn't accept her card. But he suggested she buy a Powerball Lotto ticket while she was there because the draw was in a few hours. And, so she did. Bertha purchased one Powerball ticket by fluke. Good thing she did, too, because the ticket turned out to be a winner of $200,000!

Bertha checked her ticket the next morning and found that she had all of the whiteball numbers. She said that she "cried and cried." Must be very emotional finding out that you won so much money!

So, she got into her truck and drove to Kentucky lottery headquarters in Louisville to get her winnings. That day, there was a huge winter storm and officials urged businesses to shut down early. And, so Kentucky Lottery did so. They closed at 12 pm. Bertha arrived at 12:28 pm and a security guard told her that they closed early. Nevertheless, Bertha was the first one there the next morning. She was waiting as lottery employees arrived to work and she got her money!

Congratulations to Bertha on her fluke win!
