Ontario Lottery And Gaming Corporation (OLG) has a unique once-a-tear game called Millionaire Life where the grand prize winner wins $1 million a year for 25 years. This is a unique lottery game because, in Canada, prizes are normally paid out in one lump-sum, tax free. Millionaire Life is a raffle type of game where there is one guaranteed winner out of all the tickets purchased. So, the odds are based on the number of winning tickets sold. There are also four $1 million prizes, and twenty $100,000 prizes and the odds of winning these prizes, as well, depend on the number of tickets sold. In the game, you can buy one ticket for $5, three tickets for $10, or seven tickets for $20.
David Caulfield, of Scarborough (Toronto), Ontario was one of the winners from the 2008 Millionaire Life raffle. He won $100,000. He said that he went to two different stores to verify his winning ticket and was so excited that all he could do was pace back and forth outside. We don't blame him; $100,000 is a lot of money!
