In August of 2001, David Edwards was 46 years old, unemployed, and living in Ashland Kentucky when he won a $41 million Powerball lottery jackpot. But the big lotto winner eventually became the big lotto loser.
Back when he won the lottery, David Edwards told CNN during an interview that he was going to be smart with his money. He was planning on hiring a financial adviser and he was planning on investing the money so that future generations could enjoy it as well.
Fast forward six years and Edwards lost it all. His entire winnings had been blown. David now says that winning the lottery is a curse and not a blessing. So, there you have it folks - Don't play the lottery because if you win, you may end up like Edwards.
(Just kidding, though - Keep playing the lottery because the lottery is awesome!)
