If you won the lottery, wouldn't you be eager to tell your loved ones right away? Guy Bastarache won the lottery and kept it a secret from his wife... for six hours. OK, so he only kept it a secret for six hours. Maybe he just wanted to think of the perfect way to tell her. I'm sure that's it.
Guy won Atlantic Canada Lottery's 'Set For Life' instant scratch game; it gives him the option of $1000/week for the next 25 years or a lump-sum payment of $675,000. He won the lottery in December, 2008 and had until January 16, 2009 to decide which payout he wanted.
In mid-December, 2008, Bastarache went to work but had to return due to heavy snow. His wife was at the dog groomer so instead of going home, he went to go meet her. It was on the way to the dog groomer that he stopped to purchase the winning 'Set For Life' ticket.
We congratulate Guy Bastarache on his good fortune!
