John Rese had been retired from his truck driving job for eight years when he won the Lotto 6/49 jackpot of $9.4 million on November 8, 2008 from OLG (Ontario Lottery & Gaming). Rese is from Wasaga Beach, an hour and a half north of Toronto.
John had been a regular lottery player since the 6/49 began in Ontario, Canada in 1982. He regularly chooses numbers that represent family birthdays, as is the strategy for many lottery players.
When he first checked the numbers, he couldn't believe that he won. He thought it was a mistake at first. It was probably just the shock of it all. Now John Rese gets to enjoy his retirement years while being financially well off. We're sure he'll be able to enjoy his retirement to the fullest.
We congratulate John Rese on his big win!
