Look at all that emotion on the face of J.R. Triplett... Doesn't he look excited? Well... no. J.R. won the MegaMillions jackpot of $239 million in March of 2004 and when he showed up at the prize office to claim his winnings, he told the staff, "It didn't excite me too much and to be honest, to this day it doesn't excite me too much." But, those same feelings don't extend to his wife, Peggy. She promised to "shop 'till I drop." That's every girl's dream isn't it.
What do you think Triplett's first purchase with the money was? A new car? Nope. A big house? Nope. A vacation? Nope. His first purchase was a headstone for a childhood friend that passed away 25 years ago. We told you he wasn't that excited, didn't we.
Oh, and by the way, JR Triplett waited six weeks to claim his prize so that he could talk to a lawyer to "get things straight." We know if you won, you'd be at the prize office the next morning, before it even opened, wouldn't you?
