Maria Murray Won £1 million On Christmas Eve But Still Went To Work On Boxing Day

Maria Murray - Christmas Lottery WinnerIf you won the lottery on Christmas Eve, would you go to work on Boxing Day (Boxing Day is a national holiday celebrated on December 26)? Maria Murray did.

Maria Murray finished her Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve. It was about 4 pm and she had just £5 left in her purse. So, she purchased a Merry Millions Scratchcrad from UK's National Lottery. And, it was a winner! £1 million ($1,426,113 USD)! Not bad, but she still went to work on Boxing Day.

Maria is from Avonmouth, Bristol, UK. She works in a cafe in the same town. She is 41 years old with kids. She told her kids of the win immediately upon coming home from Christmas shopping on that wonderful day.

What does she plan to do with the money? For starters, she plans to buy the house that she had lived in for the past eighteen years. Next, she always wanted to get a new car. And, a brand new Mini Cooper tops the list. Lastly, she wants to get away and go on vacation with her family. Whatever Maria now wants to do, she could afford to do so!

Congratulations to Maria Murray on her spectacular win!
