Maya Worsoff Wins Big Wagering On Football In Canada's Pro Picks Lottery

Maya WorsoffIn Canada, people can wager on sports through the lottery. In Ontario, they can do it through ProLine. People can bet on sports like hockey, football, baseball, and soccer. Basketball is not allowed because when the NBA expanded into Canada, one of the conditions was that there would be no betting on NBA games via the lottery system.

In 2007, Maya Worsoff became the biggest winner ever in Canadian lottery sports wagering. She picked the winners in 16 NFL games and won a total of $448,242.

Maya was 38 years old, a stay-at-home-mom, when she won. She told lottery officials that she was "very proud."

But guess what? This wasn't her first win in sports wagering. Prior to this, she won $96,398. Guess what again? She later won again in sports wagering, $100,000 in a game called Point Spread. That brings her total winnings in sports lotteries to $644,640, all tax free because Canada does not tax lottery winnings. May must really know her sports!
