You know how some people play the same lottery numbers for each draw, hoping that, one day, their lucky numbers will match and they'll become instant millionaires? Eric and Sue Tarry, from Fakenham, England, used to do that. And, they won £7,649,917 ($10,885,486 USD)... by mistake!
See, Eric and Sue play the same numbers every week. But one Saturday morning late in 2008, Eric was buying a newspaper at the store when the clerk asked him if he'd like to buy a lottery ticket. Eric had forgotten his numbers in the car, so he bought a 'Lucky Dip' ticket instead (Lucky Dip is the same as a Quick Pick where the computer generates a random set of numbers). And, it's a good thing he forgot those numbers in the car because the Lucky Dip ticket won him UK's National Lottery Jackpot! So, you can say Eric and Sue Tarry won the lottery by mistake.
Eric and Sue run a local auto garage that employs three people. They plan on keeping the garage running despite their big win. They do plan on buying a new car, though. Their old Mitsubishi Shogun needed to be replaced.
