California Lottery had a scratch ticket called the "Big Spin Scratcher." In addition to regular instant win amounts, players were able to win a spot on California Lottery's Big Spin game show, where they could spin a prize wheel live on TV. The game show gave out over $17 million in prizes in 2007. The show ended it's run on January 10, 2009; it was replaced by a show called Make Me a Millionaire.
One of the contestants on the Big Spin game show was Lucia Vanegas. She appeared on the show on July 26, 2008. She spun the wheel and it landed on the $1 million prize!
As Lucia stepped off the stage, she claimed that she was shaking all over. Winning that much money could do that to a person! With her winnings, Vanegas said that she planned to buy a house and, also, contribute to her church.
