649's Lucky 13 - Gabriel Tkaczuk Bevz Chrapko Podridske Tripp Eddington...

Remember that huge $49 million Lotto 649 jackpot on Wednesday May, 20, 2009? It was revealed that there was only one winning ticket sold and everybody was searching for the winner the next day. Well, the ticketholder for the draw was revealed and it was bought by a lucky group of 13 co-workers of ATB Financial, a bank in Edmonton, Alberta (Some of them are pictured here from the lottery press conference). The lucky 13 worked on the 13th floor in the Human Resources Department. Since the final jackpot reached $49,851,871, each of the thirteen received exactly $3,834,759.30.

None of the thirteen say they plan to quit their current job at ATB Financial.

The lottery ticket purchase was really a last-minute purchase. Patricia Podridske sent an email to her co-workers after she found out that the Lotto 649 jackpot was estimated to be $49 million. She asked for $2 for anybody interested in buying into a group-play for the draw. The money rolled in and Patricia made the purchase. Actually, one of the group memebers, Sara Gabriel (Pictured here), said she wouldn't play. But then she changed her mind. She must be happy that she did, too, because the 24-year-old woman is engaged and the money should really come in handy!
