Encore is like dessert in Canadian lotteries. First off, you have to buy a lottery ticket like Lotto 649, Super 7, BC 49, Payday, Lottario, or Pick 3, and then you have the option to play an additional game, for $1 more, called Encore. The tag line in it's advertising is "Say yes to Encore."
Franciscus Planken always says "yes" to Encore and it paid off.
Franciscus Planken won the Encore grand prize of $1 million in April of 2009. Not a bad dessert, just for saying yes!
When Franciscus won, he was 53 years old and living in Kanata, Ontario, Canada. Kanata is located approximately 20 kilometers (That's about 12 miles) from Ottawa, the capital city of Canada. He said that he when he found out about the win, he couldn't believe it. He plans to invest the money.
Franciscus Planken wasn't the first Encore winner that we've covered. Karen Coaton was also a recent Encore winner. Congratulations to them both!
