Sarah Mabee - Sports Simpleton Wins $444,186 Wagering On NFL Football

Sarah Mabee - SimpletonSarah Mabee isn't a simpleton, but she is when it comes to NFL Football. The sports simpleton has never even watched a game of football. But one day, she did bet on it, though. That was in October of 2006 when she won $444,186.

Sarah Mabee bet on Pro Pools, a Proline lottery betting game from Ontario Lottery And Gaming Corporation. It is a sport pool type of game where thousands of people across the province of Ontario bet on a set of sports games. Whoever gets the most correct wins the pool. Sarah's $444,186 win was, at the time, the biggest Proline win ever. Since then, Maya Worsoff beat her with a $448,242 win.

But how does a sports simpleton beat out thousands of so-called experts betting on the same games? It must just be luck, although that's no consolation to the losers that she beat.

The day that she made her bet and won, Sarah Mabee, from Newcastle, Ontario was having quite a bad day. She was a waitress and on her way to work, when the old beater of a car that she drove at the time couldn't even get into drive. On top of that she forgot her workbag that contained her uniform. Later, she went to the beer store and dropped the contents of her wallet all over the beer store floor (Note to Americans: Ontarian get their beer from The Beer Store and not from the corner store). If she only knew how much she would win that day, her wallet and everthing else wouldn't have mattered.

Let that be a lesson to all you sports bettors out there... Sometimes it's better to just close your eyes and make your picks at Random. It worked for Sarah!
