Steven Masseria - NYC Sanitation Department Employee Wins Lotto

Steven MasseriaSteven Masseria works for the NYC Sanitation Department and now has received a big pay-day. New York Lottery gave him a check for $125,662. That's because he matched 5-out-of-6 numbers, plus the bonus on Lotto.

The New York Lottery Lotto game is a 6/59 game, meaning the odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 1-in-45-million. Those are pretty bad odds for a state-run lottery game, if you ask me. Nevertheless, Steven Masseria won the second prize. I'm sure he's not complaining.

Steven Masseria won $125,662 in Lotto on the July 1st, 2009 drawing. At the time of his win, Steven was living in Staten Island, Richmond County with his four kids and was an employee of the NYC Sanitation Department.

Steven Masseria's win came via a Quick Pick purchased from Tae Young Deli in Brooklyn. When players play by Quick Pick, it means that the lottery terminal selects a random set of numbers for them. Steven found out that he was a big winner while looking up the numbers in the New York Post.

Congratulations to Steven on his lucky win!
