Waffle House Waitress Autumn Laney Wins Instant Monopoly

Autumn LaneyWaffle House is a U.S. chain of restaurants, famous for Bert's Chili and Alice's Iced Tea. But now it's famous for one more thing - an employee lottery winner!

Autumn Laney was a Waffle House waitress in July of 2009 when she won $500,000 playing Georgia Lottery's instant scratch Monopoly game. The game costs $5 to play and offers $500,000 as the top prize, which Autumn won.

At the time of her win, Autumn Laney was 26-years-old, a mother of two children, and living in Austell, Georgia. She said that when she scratched the Monopoly ticket, she had to put her glasses on to double-check all those zeroes. Like most lottery winners, she felt overwhelmed and couldn't believe it.

It looks like Autumn Laney will say good-bye to her waitress job at Waffle House because she said she wanted to use the money to open her own restaurant. Hopefully it will be an establishment that specializes in steak! She also said that she plans to buy a house with the money. Congratulations to Autumn on her lucky win!
