I love it when lotteries give you a second chance with a bonus draw. I've seen lotteries, from time-to-time, hold a contest where people with losing lottery tickets send them in for some type of bonus draw. But Michigan Lottery did something different. They had a bonus where anybody that won $1000 in instant scratch-off lotto games Casino Royale, Casino Fortune, Lucky Game Book, Multi-Millions, and $2,000,000 Diamond Dazzler were entered to appear on a live television drawing to win $2 million.
Michigan Lottery ended up with a pool of 680 people that won $1000 on those instant scratch games. From those 680 people, they chose five finalists to appear in the live TV drawing (The five finalists are pictured in the photo with the bright t-shirts). Ziylon Allawerdi was the one that won the $2 million prize.
Ziylon Allawerdi said he had no immediate plans for the money, except that he would take a trip to Disney World.
The other four finalists didn't live empty handed, though. The finalists - Paul Sherzer, Nicole McElligatt-Collins, Jacklin Hazim, and Robert Culver - all received $5000 as a consolation prize. Not bad at all!
