Here's another story of someone that won big money buying lottery tickets for the very first time. It's the story of Elaine Daniel. She actually can't even play the lottery because she lives in Lawrence County, Alabama and the state of Alabama does not sell lottery tickets. So how did she win? By playing in another state - Kansas.
Elaine Daniel's visit to Kansas was a last minute decision. She decided to accompany a friend who had to drive to Kansas for work. She stayed at the Econo-Lodge in Olathe, Kansas, which is just outside of Kansas City. The morning after her stay, she walked into the store next-door and bought an instant scratch lottery ticket for $20, the first time she had ever done that. She won $50 with that ticket. She then bought three more tickets for $10 each. One of those tickets turned out to be a $100,000 winner!
Elaine said that this was the first time she had ever won anything in her life. She said she felt lucky because there was another woman in the store where she bought the winning ticket that said that she spends $20 a day on instant scratch tickets and has never won a big prize.
What does Elaine Daniel plan to do with the $100,000 that she won? She says that she wants to be careful because she doesn't want to blow it. However, she does want to buy a new truck!
