Just two short years ago, when she was 28-years-old, Emily Leach was in a coma. She was gravely ill with a life-threatening tumor in her brain. She spent two months in a coma, but came out of it and survived. Emily considers it a miracle that she is still alive today, but is still battling the tumor. She remains positive and her positivity helps her get by.
Still, it's hard to be positive when your medical bills are piling up. At least she has a close-knit family to help her. However, she also has two brothers that live out of state (Emily lives in California's Bay are) and she would love nothing more than to get everyone together for a family vacation. That costs money, but at least she could always hope that it would happen one day.
Then, just a few days before Christmas of 2011, she bought a scratch game from California Lottery called $250 Million Cash Spectacular. She scratched it and won $5000. Nice, but that's not nearly enough to make all of her wishes come true. But $5000 is better than nothing. At least, now, she had more money to spend on lottery tickets to try to win an even bigger prize.
This past weekend, she did just that - She spent more money on lottery tickets. She bought more of the same game, the $250 Million Cash Spectacular. The game offers 31 grand prizes of $1 million. She spent $40 on the tickets. At $10 apiece, she was able to buy four of them. Then something amazing happened - She won one of the million dollar grand prizes. Awesome!
With a million dollars, Emily Leach will be able to pay off her medical bills and she's also hoping to gather up her family for a long-overdue family vacation. Isn't the lottery awesome? Of course, being alive is the greatest lottery win, but still.
Keep staying positive, Emily!
